Because its really, really bad. I long ago lost speaking French. I was ok with that as long as I could still understand the written language. I was trying to write some things out for my sister the other day and realized that is quickly slipping away as well...
I think a Community Ed French Class is in store for me...or I need to talk to my old French teacher into helping me out.
It is still my dream to go to France-not just Paris, but the countryside as well. It is a gorgeous country. I want to be able to communicate with the locals.
Chalk this up as my first New Years Resolution...let's be honest. I won't get to it until then anyways ;)
DO IT, Christen!! If you knew French fluently at one time, I would say do all that you can to keep it as fresh as possible in your mind. Take the class! =)
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate - I took three years of high school french then lived in Belgium as an exchange student for a year, where they speak Dutch (Flemish) as well as French.
ReplyDeleteI had to take French in school there but of course it was taught in Dutch so I had to first translate what the teacher was saying into English in my head, then try to relate that to the French I already knew! It was hopelessly confusing! And now I can't conjugate to save my life!! Oh well... :)
Learning new languages is amazing and fun though - you should totally get the CDs and listen to them in your car instead of music!
